Herencia is preparing to look more splendid than ever this Holy Week 2023, thanks to the collaboration between the municipality of Herencia and the different Passion Brotherhoods. The goal is to decorate the main streets where the processions will pass and attract a larger number of locals and visitors who wish to enjoy these festive days.
One of the novelties this year is the decoration of the streets where the processions take place. The fences that will be installed to separate the public from the processions will be adorned with decorations, adding more beauty to certain streets that form part of the itinerary. In addition, in areas with more public attendance, stands will be set up to allow attendees to sit and comfortably enjoy the processions.
This initiative will be expanded in the coming years, covering new areas of the procession routes. The Brotherhoods are already sharing events and cults honoring their Sacred Titles, prior to the penitential season and giving public testimony of their faith. The programming of these events has been carefully prepared and edited by the Passion Brotherhood Board, with the collaboration of the municipality through the Provincial Government of Ciudad Real in the printing of materials.
Mayor Sergio García-Navas declared that “it is a pleasure to work hand in hand with the Brotherhoods to increase the cultural dimension of the events and facilitate that Herencia’s Holy Week develops brilliantly.”
The programming of Holy Week 2023 in Herencia includes a wide variety of religious and cultural events, such as the Penitential Via Crucis, three-day periods, Brotherhood Masses, sermons, and representations of the Lord’s Passion. The events will take place in different locations, such as the Inmaculada Concepcion Parish, the Labradora Chapel, the San Bartolomé Parish, and the Merced Convent.
Among the outstanding events are the Main Function on Good Friday and the Procession of “La Borriquilla,” which will bring together faithful and visitors in an atmosphere of fervor and devotion.
